| Depo shot and sexual side effects |

Since beginning the shot approx. 6 mos. ago, my wife (and by natural consequence I) have noticed a MARKED decrease in her sexual drive and desire. Our sexual frequency has dropped to an alarming low. How low, you ask? How about an average of once monthly. Now, I'm 35 and she's 32, so I know that it's too infrequent for our ages. I also know that we've got the kids, the youngest of whom is 20 months, but before she started the shot, we were still more frequent than we have been lately.
If this were just bothering me, I probably wouldn't be bothering you, but it's concerning her as well. She wants to want sex more, but just can't seem to work up much of a desire.
What can we do? She says she saw an advertisement for some drug that's supposed to increase the female sex drive, but she doesn't recall what it is, only that it might start with an A. Yeah, I know, big help. Do you know what that is, or do you have any other ideas? We've talked about her going off of the shot and going back to condoms, but I absolutley despise them, and they often kill my drive or cause other problems, such as inability to, uh, "finish" the job due to lack of sensation, and I've tried virtually every brand. She doesn't want the pill or the patch, because she's still a moderate smoker and is afraid of the possible side effects (never mind the side effects of smoking. I quit nagging her about that a long time ago, as it just wasn't worth the fights. She's cut down considerably, though.)
I will get a vasectomy one day, but we're still deciding whether or not we're really, really done having kids, and don't want to do anything permanent yet.
Any input or advice would be greatly appreciated by both of us. |
