Slow bootup rosends 08/03/07
My boot this morning took almost 20 minutes. That's ridiculous. I don't have any processes that are unexpected, though a couple (LUCallback and svchost) were listed more than once and the former ended while I still have multiple svchosts running.

I checked my msconfig -- nothing listed (except dumprep) that I'm not ready for. Why does it take so long?

(XP Home, 2 gig clock, 1 gig of ram)

I have run the most update spybot, adaware, norton anti virus and a couple of others from the Hijack this website. And still, slow bootup. Once things are booted up, the system does move well. It is all about the boot.

      Hi Rosends,

Am assuming thatyou updated Spybot before running the scan and Ad-aware 2007, correct? Even if you have Norton installed, it's a good idea to run the free scan available from their website.

Go to Start, Run, type in MSCONFIG, under the Startup tab is alist of all programs starting with the computer. To verify if they are required go to:

      http://www.pacs-portal.co.uk/startup_content.php

      http://www.answersthatwork.com/Tasklist_pages/tasklist.htm

Get rid of the ones that are not required.

      Hope this helps!
