I've been told that I should wait one year after Vista is released before buying it, because it usually takes Microsoft that amount of time to work out most of the bugs.
But yesterday as I was talking to a friend I told him this and then I said, "But wouldn't it be all right if I buy Vista upon its release and from then on always downloading update patches/Service Packs as soon as they are available -- wouldn't that be good enough as far as fixing bugs so I wouldn't have to wait a year to buy it?"
"No," he said, "When Microsoft released Service Pack 2 for Win XP, you had to purchase it for over $100!"
Is my friend right?
But he also said that it would be inadvisable to purchase a copy of Win XP w/Express Vista Upgrade right now (which I am planning on doing, because my desktop pc's current copy of XP I suspect is a counterfeit and so has some bugs that can't be fixed), because he said the upgrade process is a real pain in the neck. Is he right about that?
Many thanks,
C.L.
