I wanted to view some files from my Windows 98 cd, I inserted into my XP pc, the cd shows Win 98 menu, but when I try to view files or select any option it tells me to reinsert the Windows 98 cd, when i do it ask e again, and again. I put it on a Win 95 pc cdrom, it was not read at all. Why would a pc with XP or 95 not be able to read a Win 98 cd? |
Clarification/Follow-up by Jim.McGinness on 12/15/06 2:52 pm: Did you try holding down the "shift" key while the CD was inserted? This will prevent the auto-run sequence that brings up the Win98 menu. You should still be able to explore the contents of the CD from My Computer->Explore.
It's remotely possible that your Win 98 CD is damaged in such a way that it cannot be properly read, even though the execution path for the automatic menu presentation is seemingly intact.
