"Open With" Dialog box purplejoy 12/08/05
Somehow a couple programs on my computer when I try to access them have an "open with" dialog box pop up . How do I get rid of this so that I can just click on an icon to open the specified program. Running Windows 98SE

Maybe I was not clear enough. When I click on desktop icon to open program it does not open instead an "open with" dialog box comes up. Can I somehow remove that so I can once again open the desktop icons. left clicking only allows you to edit the label. Right clicking allows you to access all the commands but I dont have just a plan open command listed , it says open with which doesnt help me. Can I change that somehow to have the program open just by clicking on icon.

My "answer" should have been a clarification. When you said "Somehow a couple programs on my computer." I thought maybe you were accessing them incorrectly, since it was not all programs The answers you got may help. It would be helpful to know if the icons you are clicking are shortcuts to a program, or the programs themselves.

Tweakui Once installed will appear an another appelet in the control panel.

double clicking it will open it..

with various tabs for various settings...

clicking each tab will lead a tweakable options related to it...

      Most of it is self-explanatrory...

If you have installed it...and using it..
I don't think you will find it difficult..

I have it installed but there is no icon on control panel. I have a file name tweakui.inf but everytime I open I get the open with box. If I run from start & then run It keeps trying to install again.

When you download its zip file and extract it a folder ...you should get 5 Files..

dowload ( a text file ),tweakui.inf ( this is the installer file )
tweakui 's helpfile ( it willhave the standard Helpfil icon of a book )
      tweaku.cnt

and tweakui 's Cpl it will resemble as a dll.

when you right click the tweakui is Inf file
you will get an option on install in it..
      and when you click that...
      it will start its installation...'

It may ask for the path the tweakui.cnt File
you should navigate ....using the browse button.... and once located the rest of the installation will proceed....
in between it will open the help file...
closing the help file will continue the installtion...
and after the installation is complete ....
the icon for tweakUi's appelet will appear in the Control Panel's folder...

Hope it will clear now...on how to install..it..
