Win2000 PRO - cmd.exe available memory very low afk.jr 09/20/06
    WIN 2000 PRO.
When working in the 32 bit CMD.EXE console a call to MEM shows only 15 meg of XMS available. The same is true for 16 bit COMMAND.EXE. There is a total of 256 meg (physical) installed. Task Manager reports 113 meg available (physical).

I don't know if its significant but this drive (80 gig)
is a dual boot with the second partition loaded with
    Linux (Xandros).

I tried using a .PIF file for specific 16 bit progs in COMMAND.EXE but the pull-down menu goes only as far as
    what is reported by MEM.EXE.

    This is the system :

    Mainboard : Asus A7V-ML
    Chipset : VIA KT133
    Processor : AMD Athlon @ 1300 MHz
    Physical Memory : 256 MB (2 x 128 SDRAM )

Operating System : Microsoft Windows 2000 Professionnal 5.00.2195 Service Pack 4

Thanks in advance for any attention to this problem.
