| Spyware ?? |

Yesterday my computer (IBM compat, 256K RAM, Windows XP) was completely taken over by an ad telling me that I have spyware on my hard drive. The ad was from topantispyware.com. To get back up and running, I restored my system to three days ago. What is 'spyware' ?? What is 'adware' ?? Has anyone heard of topantispyware.com ?? What steps can I take to prevent this from happening again. Also, I'm running MacAfee firewall, virusscan, privacy.. Is this enough ?? Thanks for your time and thoughts. Ted |
