| Databases vs Servers |

I am a bit confused with the terminology database and servers.
Well, I intend to create a website that allows users to login and signup, but then how can I do this so that it can connect to my script that stores all the different usernames and passwords? Is this known as a database or do I need a server.
Also, I need to handle money so I'm not sure what I can do. I want users to pay a small fee for a certain service they request, and then they can also trade with one another stuff so there has to be a credit card host to transfer all that. Does PayPal help with that?
I'm a bit lost in the terminology. Do I need a server to store all that username and password information, or do I just need a webhost that supports a mySQL database? |
