Saladin |
06/12/05 |
... I heard the phrase in my head:
"Sounding brass"
Paul uses this phrase in conjunction with "tinkling cymbal" to mean something lightweight and worthless.
While I understand that a tiny cymbal, such as a finger cymbal, makes a high pitched and 'tinny' sound that is of no momnent, I could not fathom "sounding brass."
Was it, I asked myself, perhaps referring to a tinny sounding brass trumpet, or did it have a more profound meaning that I did not understand.
If anyone has real insight into this terminology in Paul's context I will be grateful if they would share it.
:)

What a brilliant question! Who is Saladin that I may know him?
