I started to play at 12, by 14 I started to play in some competitions but i was ussualy behind the others because of late beginning, by 16-17 I could beat most of the ones that could beat me before, mostly because of really good physical training (speed). I was 1.90 and had good serve/volley game in a clay country. I reached no. 80 (out of 250 players) in Romania, but lacked official games (just 5-7 tourns/year). I could play well and give a hard time to the ones in top 20. But lack of good training parteners and social condition made take another road. So by 19 I started university and quit tennis. Still practiced for 2 years but after 21 I just played a few times a year. now I'm 26, and have a different financial position, enough time to practice, and different mentality (much more confident in everything - I that missed a lot beacause of the late start). So, I'd say am at 5 - 5.5 skill level, but I'm very determined and I feel I still got IT, still 1.90 - 77kg. I played last year with some 21-22 still active tenis players and won or made good games, even with little practice. I leave in different country now, Czech republic, different oportunities for tournaments (Austria, Germany close). Is it possible to reach a new high and maybe play in futures/challengers in 1-2 years? If yes, what are the most important things to start with (nutrition, mind, physical condition, improving of moves, or maybe a lot of games with different and better players) I'm waiting for advice and sugestions. Thanks. |
