| Living Persons on US Stamps? |

I read that the US Post Office "rules" say that no living person can be honored on a stamp while they are alive.
However, didn't they violate that rule with the issuance of the Firefighters raising the flag at Ground Zero stamp? The stamp almost photographically depicts the actual raising of the flag by the firefighters, who are alive at this time still.
Secondly, would this be the second time this rule was broken? Didn't the post office release an Iwo Jima flag raising stamp, while some of the men depicted were still alive? |
