What if they couldn't get back... denberg 10/05/05
All the websites dealing with the Apollo program quote Armstrong saying that Apollo 11 only had a x percent chance of getting back from the moon (the percentage varies from website to website). Now I recently read that Leonov said that during his 1965 spacewalk he carried a suicide pill in case anything went wrong. So my question is: did the Apollo astronauts carry suicide pills? What if they succesfully landed on the moon but something had gone wrong - say the ignition didn't fire - when they tried to take off again? Surely NASA MUST have made provision for that. I don't believe it wasn't taken into consideration.

So - was there a pill or not?

    Thanks

Thanks for replying, I appreciate it, but what is your source or reference for saying that there was a pill? Where did you read or hear it?

      Many thanks,

      Paul.
