| my Arab neighbors |

I have become on friendly terms with my Arab neighbors and neighborhood business owners. Several of them have been the victims of recent 'smash and grab' type crimes (44 exactly since Jan. in this area)
In recent days they have been expressing to me their hate for America. I have expressed my sympathy for their suffering of the crimes committed against them and added my wish that the culprits be caught.
Their responses are something like this, but universal: 'They will never catch the criminals, this is America!' 'I have the complete crime on video tape but the criminals will never even be sought after, this is America!'
Then, just today one of the Arab business owners was telling me, "I hate America!" and then rambled on something about how when a person turns 18 in America they suddenly have the choice to ruin their lives, being brought up in broken homes (which is supported by the American 'system') and most likely have no clear values to base their decisions on!
I don't hate America, I love America but some of their points, I agree with....
That being said, is there a wide spread attitudinal problem here that could merge with the problem of terrorism against America?
Thanks, Harmonyhill |
