Colorfastness question jpollardsmith 05/16/06
    Hello,

I'm new at sewing and I've been practicing making some mens T-shirts. I've made four shirts with four different fabrics. I'm having a little problem with color bleeding.

    The fabrics I bought are:

    1. A 100% cotton, dark maroon-colored fabric. It didn't
    bleed at all.

    2. A cotton/polyester knit fabric, which was navy blue.
    It didn't bleed.

    3. 100% cotton, royale blue color. It bled a lot.

    4. 100% cotton orange/brown color. It bled a little bit.

My question is: Is there any way of knowing if a fabric will bleed or not before buying it in a fabric store?

    Thank you,

    John
