    Does a cable modem by itself provide sufficient/any firewall protection at all?

    If so, do I still need software firewall protection? Additional hardware firewall protection?

    Does a router offer any additional protection or is it just to allow you to connect multiple computers to a single Internet connection?

    What is the best solution/combination to provide adequate firewall protection?
