| Cooling a small house (under 1000 sq ft) |

located in the Chicago area - faces north, fewer than ten casement windows, a couple of double-sash windows, usually at least one but as many as six weeks of unbearably hot/humid weather during the summer, no shade trees close to the house -
Why or why not - plus cost considerations and ease/difficulty of installation:
1. ductless split-system air-conditioning
2. central air
3. window units
4. a whole-house fan
5. ceiling fans
