| Quantum physics and Terminator 2 |

Hi, was wondering if quantum physics could settle an argument for us. In the original Terminator movie John Conner sent a soldier back in time to protect his mother, Sarah. This soldier then turned out to be John's father. Then in Terminator 2, John and Sarah stopped the war in the future happening (the war being the reason he sent the soldier back in time in the first place) and so the soldier will never be sent back. Is there any law or theory in quantum physics that will then allow John to exist? |
Clarification/Follow-up by Jim.McGinness on 06/27/03 11:18 am: Time-travel paradoxes are actually an argument for why time-travel, even if it were possible, cannot actually be implemented: time travelers would inevitably go back and mess with the discovery of time-travel on their time line. The only stable timelines would be ones on which time travel is never exploited.
