| Slow drain, new AAV, no clog, still slow |

Please help as I am very, very stumped. Our kitchen sink has always worked fine since we moved in (about 18 months now,) we had a bit of company last week and towards the end of the week the drain didn't slow down, it practically stopped. It took about 2 hours to drain the sink when it was filled with water to do the dishes!! I did the nasty and snaked the drain 20 feet from the trap and it didn't fix the problem, so the next morning I went into the old canning cellar and went straight to where the kitchen drain connects to the main and snaked 25 more feet from there, including back towards the sink. Bottom line is I found some small clogs but nothing that would slow it this badly, so I investigated and realized I have no vent for my sink and that at least explained the glugging I get when it did drain down. I subsequently purchased and installed an AAV and all new under sink plumbing (might as well while I was there.)
No resolve, now it runs better but still immediately starts to back up with running water.
If I remove the AAV and leave the pipe open it flows perfect, and pretty much forever or at least 10 minutes at full water running hot and cold (didn't have that much time on my hands.) Now, if I install the AAV while it is running it takes a few seconds but begins to back up???
AAV is installed properly to the directions on the package and all directions I can find online, in fact my installation looks almost identical to the one on the manufacturers instructions.
I will already be taking it back tomorrow to see if I got a bad one, I hope that is it.
Please advise.
