| Floatation capacities calculation for barrels |

I have a private lake on the property that I own and would like to make a floating dock/deck. However the township that I reside in has very stringent rules about ‘permanent’ fixtures. Just by adding a dock, I am looking at 3-5K increase in my property taxes if it is attached to posts or piles. Or permanently attached to the bank of the lake.
I do know that they do not assess any further taxes if the dock/deck or floating and anchored by chains with a gangway from the bank to the deck level.
OK that said; I have a question about what I need to know for capacity.
I have access to new, unused closed head poly drums that are in 15, 20, 30, 35, and 55 gallon capacities. I was planning on using these as the flotation devices for the deck. Either in combination or all of one kind
Currently, I have no plan on how large the deck will be, that will depend greatly on the capacity per barrel that I will use.
OK, the specifics of the situation:
Freshwater lake in Northeastern Pennsylvania Spring fed lake, (No rivers or creeks or other tributaries filling the lake) Depth from back side to center – sloping from 1 foot at bank to 15 in center The lake does freeze, but not solid to full depth There is wildlife in the lake, but nothing detrimental to the poly barrel as far as I can tell. Method of anchoring would be concrete blocks with chains attached or other tie down material impervious to the fresh water.
If any one can help me with the floatation capacities, that would be great.
Thanks,
DILLIGAS
