| Carpenter Bees and New Redwood/Cedar Play set |

Recently my in-laws purchased a Sunray play system for my kids to use. It has not been constructed for even a week, and I am finding evidence and active drilling by carpenter bees.
I do not have any very deep bores yet, but given time I am sure that ti can be made in to Swiss Cheese.
I live in Southern New Jersey, Zone 6.
This being a play set, I would like to find alternative ways to combat the problem other then chemicals and pesticides. I have heard about using other wood more favorable? And even filling the holes and patching them. But this does not seem to take care of the problem that I am facing.
The play set is in the open air, in a non-urbanized area, we are the only home for many miles.
All help is greatly appreciated.,
Thanks
