BIG PROBLEM Harmonyhill 02/18/03
My son has just informed me that he has a wild squirrel loose in his basement and he wants me to help him catch it before he goes out of town Thursday morning. I'm supposed to house sit for him while he is out of town.

He says it is a BIG squirrel and he doesn't want to use poison, he wants it caught alive and released.

Any suggestions on the best way to catch it? He says if we don't get it before he leaves, he guesses I will have a project to keep me busy while he is gone.

    HELP!!!!!
    Thanks,
    Harmonyhill

Glad you managed to bag the little critter. I just hope it will not simply march right back inside. I had a squirrel problem when I lived in Maryland that was like something out of an old Warner Brothers cartoon -- no matter what I did, that dang squirrel was right back again. I finally drove clear across town and released him in a parking lot next to some woods in northern Virginia. That did the trick. :-)

I'm glad you caught it. I would have ate it but I'm a redneck.
To answer your question, No a BB gun probably wouldn't kill it but a CO2 pellet gun will.
I would have used a .22 with rat shot.
