Okay, I think I can learn to co-exist with the raccoons but I seem to be scared of them. I don't want this little fear I have to develop into a phobia.

What is the worst type of behavior I might expect from raccoons living close by. They won't attack me will they?

Will they stay away from me?

What would happen if my dog caught one?

Which is worst (or more dangerous), Opossums, Raccoons, or Groundhogs?

Which is more of a menace to gardens?

There are no bears out in my woods but there are also deer and foxes and other animals. The squirrels and the raccoons seem to be the scariest so far, I've come to an understanding with the squirrels. The squirrels were very curious about me to begin with and some even tried to run me out of town. Now they leave me alone as long as I leave them alone.

I guess the reason they (the raccoons) bother me is they don't just run away and hide like rabbits, or deer, or birds. Instead, they stop and look and watch me.

Where are they when I can't see them?

Right now, the woods are very bare and snow covers the ground so I can see there are many many MORE animals out there then I thought there was.

Do raccoons live in the trees or in the holes in the ground? Their paw prints go to both places and I see them in the trees, and on the ground.

    Thanks,
    Harmonyhill
