Can someone help me understand how PayPal works. Is this like a bank that provides this service?

Let me know how it works out because I would like to learn to sell at Ebay, but I just can't seem to understand so many things there.

I will, I hope to get ownership of the web site in the next couple of days. Then I am going to have a company design the site for me, So it may be a few weeks till I get it up and going.

It is basicly a Church web site, but I want a place for members to pay dues, buy some church manuals and other items we may sell. Plus we want to have church CD's available for the members.

I don't know a thing about all of this, except it causes me to get my check book out and pay for all of this to be done.

I have someone I know ( from online) that has a church site where they get paid all the time from paypal and it works good for them.
I think I will ask them about it tonight also.

I have used it, to buy things several times, most times it went well, once they took my money and it was never credited, even with copies of the money comming out of my account, I never did get my money back from anyone.

I've only used PayPal once about 5 years ago. It was like writing a check. I had to type in a check number, which I also put a stop payment on. The website advertised that if a stop payment was placed, I would be charged $25. I never was charged any $25 only the fee the bank charged me to put the stop payment on it.

I prefer to pay with a credit card espeically online.

I spoke to Brother Dave, he emailed me back last night, he said he has used it for 4 years and has never had a problem getting his money.
He said it was cheaper than trying to set up your own merchant account to take credit cards because of the fees involved for a merchant account.
I guess I am going to try and use them to get my money when I set my account up. It will be a few weeks and I don't know how long before anyone actually buys something from me.
But if you want to check back with me, let me know.
