Hi IQ and CB
Thanks for encouraging me with the last answer. I thought you'd like to know that I have stood back, taken a really dispassionate view and arrived at the conclusion that over the past few weeks my memory actually has improved. A small but definite improvement, especially at work. So don't worry, even if no one else has reached lesson six, I'll definitely continue to the end of lesson twenty, even if it takes me till the summer, which, at my rate, it probably will.
Now I need your help. Turn to Lesson Five self test section. I've done the first three with the cards and I'm pleased with the result. I have the both the images AND the key words off pat for all 54. But exercises 4 and 5 are still causing me problems.
No 5 in particular. I've got a news magazine called METRO which does London news. But I'm struggling to find images and keywords. Let me give you some examples of images and keywords which I've chosen for a few odd pages and tell me if you think I'm doing it properly
PAGE ONE. The cover page. Has the word "Metro" in the title, so I think, ONE keyword Teacup, word I want to remember is Metro on page one, so imagine the Paris Metro shaped like a teacup with tea being poured in it.
PAGE TWO. Advert about mobile phones with a picture of a phone. So I think, 2 = Noah, think of Noah making a mobile phone call. Page 2 is therefore a page with a phone on it.
PAGE THREE. Photo about surfers in Australia. 3 = Maypole, therefore imagine surfers being spun around a maypole. Therefore page 3 is about surfers.
PAGE EIGHT. Article about House Prices. 8 = fee so imagine a load of notes being paid into a giant house therefore remember that page 8 has an article about house prices...
PAGE FIFTEEN The only thing on it is a page long article about a paedophile jailed for having sex with a child. 15 = TAIL so the best I can do is to think of a man walking away with his tail between his legs...
PAGE TWENTY FOUR Advert for a DVD called Captain Nemo. 24 = NERO and NERO sounds like NEMO so can I use that...is that allowed?
I could sort of go on like this for ages but the point is that some of my links are stretching it a bit...especially 15 and 24. They're a bit shaky.
What do you think - am I worrying about nothing or am I only doing half of what I should be doing?
One reason why I'm making such slow progress is that I've recently changed jobs and haven't as much time as when I started Lesson One. But I can't stress too much, I am determined to finish, so don't worry, I definitely won't just "fade away" from the Answerway site like some people have. And thanks for telling me that I've made it farther than anyone else, that alone has been worth its weight in gold.
Thanks again,
Paul. |
