Asthma Medications HairBeGone 10/26/02
Ive been diagnosed with asthma. Yesterday I received prescriptions for an Albuterol inhaler, an Atrovent inhaler, Singular tablets, an Advair inhaler, and Albuterol and Atrovent ihnalation solutions to be used in a nebulizer. I saw a nurse practitioner, and her instructions were: Advair-1 puff 2 times per day, Singular-1 tablet (10mg) per day, nebulizer with Albuterol and Atrovent-4 times per day, and to use the Albuterol inhaler and the Atrovent inhaler together, 2 puffs each, 4-6 times per day. Reading about the latter 2 inhalers, the Albuterol inhaler seems to be a rescue inhaler and the Atrovent a maintenance inhaler. My question is, if I use the 2 of them together, am I receiving too much Albuterol? If I use them together and still have an asthma attack before its time for another dose, can I use the Albuterol inhaler as a rescue inhaler? All this medication seems like overkill, albeit, I feel better today than Ive felt in a very long time!
