      Hello rozyredtoes,

I'm slightly confused about your question. It might help if you could clarify something for me.

In 2001 you had a bone scan which your doctor said everything was fine, though the doctor did not actually look at the scan? He just read the report and filed the scan away in your records?

Then, 2006 you get another bone scan with a different doctor who says you have a 25 percent bone loss, THEN asks to see your 2001 scan?

If this is how it is, perhaps everything was fine in the first scan, its just that after looking at the first scan your New doctor revised his opinion of a 25 percent loss to a 20 percent loss. I'm not sure but that is what sounds like happened to me.

If that is the case, the difference is 5 percent, an easy mistake without having looked at the first scan first.

I'm sorry you've endured pain during the time you have had your bone loss, but this also causes me to think the loss has been 20-25 percent over the past 5 years, not 5 percent. If you had an original bone loss of 20 percent, then in the following 5 years had another 5 percent loss, increased pain would not match the picture. It seems you would have had the most pain during the bigger loss.

This is something you would need to clear up with the doctor, you may have misunderstood what you were told.

In order to win a malpractice claim against the original doctor, you would have to prove that you were misdiagnosed or mistreated and suffered injuries because of it.

Good luck on your recovery, I hear they are coming up with newer and better bone medications all the time.
