    Hi,

I’m interested in writing a book but don’t have any ideas...yet.

Do you know if there’s a database or list suggesting subjects needed by the publishing industry, or should I simply ask publishers what there requirements are. The question may be the mark of an amateur, or alternatively provide a head start.

I realise that many great books are initially rejected by publishers, and that writers often work with subjects they have experience of or feel strongly about.

One might say that if a writer doesn’t have the imagination to come up with a subject, he hasn’t got what it takes to write a story in the first place…I’d challenge the idea.

    Thanks, Mark
