Riddle-Light Bulbs jnlomonte 01/20/03
At the risk of asking too simple a riddle, here goes:

In a closed room are three light bulbs. In the hall outside are the three switches to these light bulbs. Your problem is to find which switch controls which light bulb if you can only enter the closed room once, and when you do, only one switch can be in the "on" position. There are no other restrictions.

      Clarification/Follow-up by jnlomonte on 01/20/03 7:22 pm:
Sorry if this question is too vague. The problem is only to find out which switch operates which light bulb without being able to see into the room and also not being able to go into the room with more than one switch in the "on" position. I will leave this riddle open for a day or so and see what responses come in.
