Integer Linear Programming bowsey 05/23/07
Hi guys..I have been having problems formulating the objective function. Hopefully, I can get some help on it. I am required to formulate and solve an integer programming problem. The question is as follows:

There are 5 helicopters available to transport a list of items from 1 place to another. Each helicopter can carry up to 200kg. Each helicopter has 4 seats. All items must be transported. The weights of all the items are given to us in a list.

The constraints are Item No.1(20kg) must be carried in the first helicopter.
Items No. 9(101kg) and 10(111kg) are not allowed to be on the same helicopter.
Items No.6(10kg) and 7(8kg) need to be on the same helicopter.

I just need help as to figure out the objective function and decision variables. I have spent some time trying to think and have use "trial and error". I have the feeling that it is just something simple and i can't see it. Any help will be greatly appreciated! thanks!
