question about matrices whisperjx 10/30/05
I am doing extra credit for my analysis class and I am stuck on a problem but I think i came up with he right equation.
Suppose that on the first day of a sale a store sold 38 complete computer systems and 53 printers. During the 2nd day 22 complete systems and 44 printers were sold. On day 3 of the sale the store sold 21 systems and 26 printers. Total sales for these items for the 3 days were $49,109, $31,614, $26,353 respectively. What was the unit cost of each of these 2 selected items.

    I put for the equations...
    38x + 53y = 49109
    22x + 44y = 31614
    21x + 26y = 26353

Im not sure if that is correct or not because when i put it into my calculator it wont solve. I am using the TI 83. Usually for homework problems we get 3x3 matrices. I tried putting in 3x2 but it wouldnt solve. I had it like this | 38 53 |
    |22 44 |
    |21 26 |
    Can you help? Thanks
