Life at work. Raging 06/05/05
Company x operates 24/7, 365 days & you will be required to work on a rotating roster basis to meet co. requirements. Your team manager will discuss roster changes with you when these are required to meet service commitments. The total hours worked in any 1 day continious 14 day period will not exceed 80 hours.

A working day will not be more than (& not less than except by agreement) (9) continous hours with a meal a break. There will be times when company x will require you to work beyond normal office hours to meet urgent commitments.

I am in NZ but am seeking any lawyers advice on this above statement:

    Problems:
-Boss did not communicate changes as per the above & just put them in place for us to work.
-The change that he made was that we work 10am-9pm 4 days with 3 days off than we work 9pm-7am with 3 days off than we work 7am-4pm 3 days off. Is this legal in accordance with the above, as the hours surely do exceed what the contract states?
-He also assured me when I questioned as I had my doubts why so many weekends had been occupied & I told him I would resign which he did not want! His reasoning was I am good for the clients & he was proud for me to be part of the company. Now he has again changed the schedule without anyone knowing if any had actually said good comments & I only get 3 weekends off in June as opposed to the entire month of having it off followed by another 2 straight weekends in July. I think this is unfair. I am hanging with the firm but also looking for another job.
-I sent my boss an email saying I enjoy working for company x as a technical analyst but this should include that I too will be allowed to make plans with friends & family as he has changed the schedule without consulting me knowing full well I had those weekends off.

I would appreciate if anyone can give me advice on the above & tell me if any of the above is a breach of legal ethics by the firm or my boss?

    FYI
Our meal break is 1 hour & we are allowed 2 15 minute breaks.

    Many Thanks,
    Dave.
