ABA Guide to Bar Admissions
Go to this page and download Chart 9, "Foreign Law School Graduates." This will give you, in summary form, a fair sense of the way various states approach this issue. (Note that the information on these charts can go out of date quickly, and of course there can be no assurance of what requirements may apply several years from now!)
You may react to all of this by saying, "I am not familiar enough with the United States to know which state I would want to practice in." Part of your work in the coming months and years may be learning more about different areas of the country and deciding which ones offer the best legal opportunities (in relation to your particular interests) combined with the lifestyle and environment that suit you best. Major legal centers exist in New York, Washington, D.C., Chicago, Los Angeles, and San Francisco, but there are active practices throughout the U.S. (particularly in any major urban center). Many of the happiest lawyers I know practice far away from crowded, expensive and noisy locations such as New York.
