Hi, I signed a one year rental lease for my appartment. During the time we lived in that apartment, I always saw some weird kids (teenagers) wondering around in the afternoon and night. This made me have problem in walking out to the front of the communty to collect mails. After living there for about half year, we found someone may be selling drug in our community. We talked with the manager and she said some other tenants mentioned the same issue to her. So we decided to end the contract early. We gave the manager 30day notice, and couple days later, manager told us that someone wanted to rent our apartment. So we basically moved out in 20days after we gave out the notice, but we still paid full. Now the properity company said that we still owed them $1600 which was about one month rent. My question is: 1) Is this reasonable that we have to pay the extra rent for ending contract early because of the unsafe environment? 2) What should I do now? Thank you for the help |
