Isn't this illegal? ashleyrpoole 10/04/06
A couple weeks back, I got pulled over for my tail light & the police man checked my license & told me I could go.
2 days ago, I got pulled over again (in the exact same spot), the police ran my license & told me it was suspended. He could have took he to jail, considering it's against the law & I had no identification w/ photo with me at the time (just 2 pieces of mail & a check in my name).
ok, the man searched the car, didnt find anything. (i gave him permission) He called for backup and got 2 more officers there. He wrote me a ticket, but didn't give it to me. He asked me if it would be alright if the officers follow me home and search the house. With me feeling intimidated, I agreed to it. I felt like if I would have told him no, he would have tore the ticket up and brought me to jail. I am almost certain of it!
My question is, considering he didn't find anything in the car, what is the "probable cause" for him to search my house? I wasn't in my house, I was in my car. So what gives him the right to search my house? I know I gave him permission, but, like I said, he wouldn't have gave me the ticket. he would have took me to jail. I felt like I was pressured into saying yes.
I have a newborn baby & didn't want to be away from her. She is 4 months old (& 1 day) and i haven't spent one night without her since she was born. I just really wanted to see my baby & didn't want to be without her, you know.
I feel like I don't have any rights! I am thankful that the police didn't bring me to jail, but i feel like my rights were violated by them searching my house, ALTHOUGH i gave permission.
Is this illegal or did I give up my rights by giving permission? And if it is illegal, what can I do?
    thank you!

But if I would have told him no, he would have took me to jail! If he would have gave me my ticket 1st, I would have told him no, but he didnt!
He made sure to ask me if they could search the house before he gave me the ticket.
What good are the laws if they (the police) can get around them & intimidate people?
I honestly don't feel I have any rights as an american citizen! it's a shame that things like this go on everyday and yet noone does anything about it. thanks for your answer!
