| Wax on placemat question |

Hi,
I have a deep red, dinner placemat that I accidently dripped some candle wax on. The mat is a cotton/polyester blend and there is no care label on the back.
So I'm not sure what to do to remove the wax other than scraping some of it off with a credit card or similar.
Could you recommend a way to remove the wax?
