Washing machine screeching sound DTHEMAN 01/01/05
    Hello can someone help me figure out why my almost new washing machine is making a screeching sound during the spin and wash cycle.

    I have a Maytag and would like to remove the washer (center)( Sorry don't know the appropriate term for it)
    to see if something might be stuck in there.

      THE SCREECHING SOUND TURNED OUT TO BE CAUSED BY A BAD PUMP. I PURCHASED THE MACHINE ON DECEMBER 30, 2001 AND THE PUMP WENT OUT ON IT ON JANUARY 1, 2005. ACCORDING TO THE REPAIRMAN, WASHING MACHINES NO LONGER GO FOR MANY YEARS WITHOUT SOMETHING GOING WRONG WITH THEM.
