Question Details Asked By Asked On
stain of unknown origin pete4187 01/18/04
I have a mystery stain that I'm trying to get rid of. The fabric is heavy white cotton, almost canvas in its feel. The stain is black and looks oily, almost like tar or a grease pencil. I have no idea where it came from, since the material is not worn outside. (It's a martial arts uniform, and goes from dojo to gym bag to washing machine.)

How do I identify and get rid of this stain?

      Clarification/Follow-up by pete4187 on 01/19/04 1:03 pm:
A zipper is possible, although the stain looks like something that was folded into the material rather than something it rubbed against. I believe the zipper is nylon, regardless.

"should be easy to get out an oil stain"

      Details, please.

      I see, well, I don't know.

For me, I would clean it in a clorox mixture (ten-water to one clorox)on that area only and see what happens. That could be wrong.

      Cordially, Chou
