latin in the movie "passion of the christ" Fulmens 05/11/04
any of you experts saw the movie?? i did, and while absorbing the message of the love of jesus to he world and etc, i was listening to the latin spoken in that movie.

most of what i could pick up was good, but the words that have a "c" in them were always pronounced as if they were italian. for example, the word "facere" was pronounced in that movie as "faCHEreh" and not "faKEreh" (the letter "c" is pronouced just like a "k" in latin, correct?)

i have also heard those famous words by iulius caesar, "vini vidi vici", pronouced as "veenee veedee veeCHee", instead of "... veeKee".

is there some sort of disagreement still? it seems to me that it is accepted that the "c" must aways be pronouced like a K, so why pronouce it as CH?

      Clarification/Follow-up by Fulmens on 05/17/04 9:47 am:
yes, as i suspected, it was some sort of italian latin, as you say. eventhough the movie was not about latin language at all, it would have been nice to hear it spoken as it was back then.

      thank you for your answer!
