pickles i love eating em can i make them at home simon 08/25/03
okay guys don't laugh. when i was in states i enjoyed eating kosher pickles, kind of like dil pickles? anyway i can make this at home with cucumbers? My mom tried making it with the left over water/juice of store pickles and added sugar and salt but after a few days it went bad. Well the water/juice did not seem fresh. I wanted to make em at home as one jar of normal pickles costs Rs 200 and thats way too much.

How about adding preservatives? but what kind? and what if we omit the salt? Do they have a lot of acid in them as i feel like i have acidity after eating half a bottle in a day.

I am talking about pickles made with short cucumbers and not indian pickles made with mangoes.

      Hey Bal,

Yes H.J. Heinz is a well known company all over the world known for their good quality products especially their thick ketchup. I also love their soups.

I love pickles. Yup I do.

Though my mom says that I eat them like an animal half a bottle in half a day, then I get acidity. But I just love em especially the ones made with vinegar. Though over here every time I want to go and buy a jar it’s too costly. Initially, one jar was Rs 175 and now Rs 200. That’s just too much. I guess it’s because they have to import it from abroad.

I will certainly go and have a look at the site mentioned. If you can come up with any delicious recipes please let me know and I will ask my mom to make it.

We experimented at home with small baby cucumbers by cutting them in half and then putting them in the left over juice form the store brought pickles and adding some sugar and salt to taste but unfortunately after few days the water went bad. I had also kept the bottle/jar in the fridge.

Of course I did not let any pickle go to waste. They all went nicely inside my stomach.

Take care with lots of love
