by Charles L. Stevenson. Jon mentioned this book in one of his answers, so I decided to order it from my local library, and since I have a personal friend/librarian, CeeBee of Answerway, she helped me. The book was located at Southern Illinois University, a million miles from where I live, but the book arrived in a very timely manner.
Well, I glanced through the book and read the first page---it is so far over my head I just had to laugh. It reminded me of the time I had delusions of intellectualism and bought a Two Volume set of Oswald Spengler's philosophy and read the first volume by the pool. I read about 60 pages on the meaning of time; it all made perfect sense when I was reading it; but when I put it down, I recalled nothing.
So, this wonderful book is far out of my ability. I am still interested in the subject, though.
ANYWAY, TO GET TO MY POINT. I read the first page with writing, not sure what this is called, and it said the following: "The publication of this volume has been made possible by a grant from the American Council of Learned Soccieties and from the Louis Stern Memorial fund."
I'm thinking that Jon1667 comes from a line of intellectuals. Am I correct, Jon?
Best wishes, Chou |
