| emails how do you give it importance |

HELLO,
I am in a fix. I have joined my new office since Jan 2003. My boss wants me to go through his emails and pick the important ones tell him about which ones to take action on and discard the rest.
How do i know which one is important.
If i delete or get rid of the unimportant ones he will say ma why did you not inform me about that paritcular email.
What i had done was that i had told him that sir since i have only moved here since Jan how about if i print out the ones which i think are imp and you can take action on the if you want.
But this did not work out either because there were so many and at the end of each day i would have 3 pages of emails let to answer and if i gave the boss the list at 4pm then he would stil till 7 pm reading and answering them.
Also, what if you boss is at a position that everyone wants him to know what is hapening with them and they are always writing to him informing him about everything?
