| Finding a job for a friend...foreign one |

Hi all,
I want ask if anyone has any ideas about how I can help a friend of mine.
He used to work on my staff when I was a manager in Germany (before the bubble burst). He's a really top-flight IT guy, especially strong in the area of computer security.
He's a Romanian national and has never been to the US before, but he got laid off from our old company and has for a long time not been able to find anything because he doesn't speak German fluently, and apparently, returning to Romania is too dreadful to contemplate.
I want to help him find a job in the US. Of course, he needs an H-1B visa in order to come here. I am helping him tailor his resume to American style and standards, and I am letting him create a profile on Monster.com using my home address, so he can get the attention of American IT recruiters. He also understands that he would likely have to fly himself here on his own if I manage to scare up some interviews for him.
I have a couple of contacts, but not a lot. I wonder if anyone has any suggestion how he can find an employer who needs his particular skill set and who would be willing to put up with the paperwork for processing an H-1B (he is willing to pay the legal costs, about $1500).
The dodgy company I am working for right now has plenty of fresh H-1B people, despite the depressed economy, so I assume there must be more employers out there like that.
Any suggestions would be really nice. |
