buying a 5 stone diamond band Silvercrescent 12/08/04
    Hello--

I am about to get engaged soon, and my almost-fiance :) wants to buy a diamond band for me. My first inclination is to go for a 5-stone ring, with preferably G, if not H color, VSII-SI1 clarity stones. Each stone would be around .20/.25 ct. I am also considering about getting 3 round stones and 2 baguette or princess cuts for a slightly different look. I've looked at some of the local stores to see if they are carrying loose stones that I can seperately pick up and get mounted (I want that to be able to take a look at each individual stone to check that they seem alright), but they told me that they don't do that, as the stones are too small. But how can I know about the quality of the stones without seeing them naked first? They also told me that such small stones do not come with a certificate (as the latter is too expansive). But how do I understand if, say, the color they claim is truly what it is? Should I consider searching the internet instead of buying from a B&M store? I really need some advice!
