My husband is scheduled for a citizenship interview in a few hours. We are separating because he is verbally abusive. And it turns out he only married me for the green card and now he wants his citizenship so his grown kids can go on the 'A' list for immigration to the U.S. This man has done nothing for me,we do not own anything together.I basically support the household. We live in my house which I have owned for 25 yrs. He has done nothing but put me down, humiliate me,called me names,etc.. He has threatened that if I give him a hard time and don't go to the interview he will drag me thru divorce court when I file. I feel that he does not deserve the most precious thing in the world,to be a citizen of the USA. What can I do to stop the interview? Should I withold my birth certificate and marraige license? Will I be asked to sign anything at the interview? He went behind my back and applied for the citizenship. Help me please. Thank you |
