I NEED HELP BADLY FOR TRANSFERRING/CHOOSING A HIGH SCHOOL! frizzyan 06/07/05
Hi experts (PLEASE READ THE WHOLE THING SORRY IF ITS TOO LONG!!!!! I NEED HELP BADLY!)

I am a 10th grade student and I am currently making a decision about transferring schools. Alright, my situation is very unique and is quite wack but here it goes.

I reside in East Asia, and I currently attend an international school called American International School (believe me, the name is extremely misleading!). I was in another high school in 9th grade, and I transferred to my current school because of the location. Although both schools are in the same district my current school is far closer than my previous one and I get much more sleep than before. Also, my previous school was religiously-affiliated so I did not like the teaching.

However, I am currently regretting my decision badly and I'm mulling over another transfer. Here's a few things I'm desperately concerned about,

    A. This school I want to go is British system so it might hurt my SATs and credits,
    B. I am going to US for college for sure,
    C. I've been in 2 schools in the space of 2 years, if I leave again, it's 3 in 3 years,
    D. I might move to California for 12th grade so switching to British system and then back to American may be unwise.

However as I said, I regret badly moving to this school because the whole education system I believe here is faulty and I've not learned much compared to my previous year. In fact, I think I learned far excessively more last year than this. If I move to a British system school, it may cause a few major problems especially sorting out the credits for college.

As I said earlier, I may be going to California so its a hassle switching to this British system school but I'm really feeling uneasy and unhappy about the education received here. I don't know how everything is going to pan out but it doesn't look good at the moment so I desperately want a transfer since I can ill-afford another lull year (especially its 11th grade!!!).

What should I do, because staying at this school looks like a dying option?! On the other hand, I am very worried about my SATs, grades and credits cause it differs tremendously from an American to a British system school. Other International schools are far more expensive as this British system school is world-ranked and also far more affordable than my current school and previous on, and my parents cannot afford to pay another US$10,000 extra just for high school. (My current school fees cost around US$12,000, my previous one around $11,500, and the British system $10,000. the only other American school apart from the 2 I mentioned in this city costs $20,000)
