| New laws by govt for central air conditioners. |

I heard that by 01-26-06, the government is enforcing that with new central air conditioners you have to use a certain grade of refrigerant, that will make repair central air conditioners more costly, because you have to take all the refrigerant out to repair many of the service jobs. This will cause the service jobs to cost $900 to $1000 because ot the extra work.
Have you heard of this or anything similar?
Thanks in advance. |

What does the initial DIY mean?
Clarification/Follow-up by labman on 08/31/05 3:49 pm: DIY = do it yourself Until 1995, you could buy components with the right amount of Freon seal in them. Screwing them together released the Freon, giving you a working system.
I did the research largely in self defence.
