central heat blower motor DTHEMAN 02/05/05
    Hello

I installed a new blower motor into the central furnace which I ordered from Sears. But it does not work.

I wonder if the new one is not the correct one. The amps on the old one is 5.8 and the new one is 6.50 and the HP on the old one is 1/8 and on the new one 1/5. Would these numbers make any difference?

The only other difference is that the old one only had two speeds low and high and the new one has three low, medium and high. I tried it on high and medium.

    Thanks again for your help.

I wonder if I might have scrwed the motor in wrong? Am I suppose to be able to turn the squerrel cage wheel by hand? If I am, it doesn't move when I push it with my hand.

I went to dissable the motor to see why the squarel cage was not moving freely and I found that the shaft is really stuck and now I cannot take the motor out.

Any ideas on how to get the shaft unstuck?

I figured out what I did wrong.

I didn't center the motor correctly and the squarrel cage is hitting the bracket so it does not rotate. I have not been able to remove the motor to rotate it around so it doesn't hit the bracket because for some reason the shaft seems to be stuck.

I also cannot access the nuts (which are at the bottom) unless I am able to release the shaft of the motor.

Any ideas as to how to loosen the shaft so I can remove the motor and recenter it?

has this ever happened to you?

The wiring is not the problem. The problem is the motor is stuck inside the squarrel cage. Would a trained ELECTRICIAN be able to get it unstuck? Would he have the experience to get the motor unstuck especially when all he knows how to do is work with wires?

And the squqrrel cage DOES NOT move because it is stuck.
