Sick persons shopping for health insurance? laparka 09/13/04
    In the U.S., what difficulties do persons with pre-existing illnesses face when shopping for new health insurance or changing policies? Other than employer sponsored, what other solutions do they find?

      You might contact the government agency in your state that regulates insurances. Here is the one for California. If they have a phone number, you might be able to talk to someone in person.

      In the USA if people become too sick to work or too poor, they can become elgible for government paid medical insurance called MediCare and MediCal. They might need to be US citizens or legal aliens though.
