Bangladeshi, or Bengali? Ccl471 04/15/07
    My younger brother has a good friend named Shimul, that he grew up with, the two having first met early in elementary school.

    Shimul's family is from Bangladesh. He calls himself a Bengali.

    When I was overseas and I was watching CNN International, one item they were reporting on involved something that happend in Bangladesh. The reporter called the people "Bangladeshi's."

    So after I got back to the US, when I saw Shimul again I told him what I heard on the news broadcast, and said that the correct term for Bangladesh's people was "Bangladeshi." He disagreed, insisting that the way he said it was correct.

    So which term is the correct one?
