Dathaeus Thanks for the advice you gave me on March 2 about getting back to a full back-swing. I appreciate it. However and I’m sure it’s me, but I’m a little confused about the drill you are suggesting I do. I’m not sure exactly what it is you are suggesting. I’ve read your suggestion numerous times and have tried to picture it, but I’m just not getting it. I’m sure if I saw you demonstrate it or a diagram of it; I would understand what you are suggesting I do. However, since this is not possible, could you please clarify a little more on how to do this drill? It would be greatly appreciated.
There is something else I was hoping you would briefly touch on. After years of watching the pro’s play on TV and going to numerous tournaments, I noticed how they would take a big divot on almost every iron shot. After much reading and talking to some club pro’s, I learned why this happens. It is because they are hitting down on the ball and the divot is actually made in front of the ball after the ball leaves the clubface. I have not yet tried to incorporate this into my game yet. However, from what I’ve read and especially what a few of the club pro’s told me, one cannot reach his ultimate plateau in golf until he learns how to hit down on the ball. One pro even told me when you learn how to do this properly it will be like someone switched on a light in your golf game. I have 2 questions. 1) I just don’t understand the principle or physics behind hitting down on the ball; why this makes for a better golf shot. Could you briefly explain? 2) How can one “begin” to incorporate this into his golf swing? It just seems like a hard thing to learn. Thanks again for all you help and advice. |
